Together, Bill and Gloria Gaither composed over 700 songs that have become staples in Christian worship, including classics like “Because He Lives” and “He Touched Me.” Their significant contributions to gospel music were honored in 2000 when the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) named them Christian Songwriters of the Century.

Beyond her songwriting, Gloria was a prolific author and speaker, penning more than 40 books, including 20 children’s titles. She also played a pivotal role in the Gaither Homecoming series, a collection of concerts and recordings that celebrated the richness of gospel music and brought together numerous artists.

Bill and Gloria married on December 22, 1962, marking the beginning of a partnership that would profoundly influence the landscape of gospel music for over six decades.
