The Red Sox are open to any proposal this offseason as they look to improve their squad. According to Ken Rosenthal and Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, Boston is willing to dealing Mastaka Yoshida as it pursues free agent Teoscar Hernández.

Rosenthal and McCaffrey reported on Friday that

“Several teams have inquired about Yoshida, and while the Red Sox do not appear to be actively shopping him, they are open to virtually any idea as they seek to build a better roster.”

On Wednesday, the Red Sox announced the signing of former White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito. They may now be interested in acquiring his former teammate, Dylan Cease.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the White Sox “are weighing offers for Cease, and the Yankees and Orioles are among those who have expressed sincere ‘interest.'” Other teams “are serious,” according to Rosenthal, and the Red Sox, Cardinals, and Dodgers are “among the teams potentially in the mix.”\

According to Rosenthal, Boston is looking for a “top-of-the-rotation starter.”

The Red Sox’s chief baseball officer, Craig Breslow, has stated numerous times that starting pitching is the team’s top priority this winter. In addition to signing Giolito, the Red Sox dealt pitcher Chris Sale to the Braves last week in exchange for 22-year-old second baseman Vaughn Grissom.
