Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has been in the NFL since 2010 and has built up quite the resumé. As one of the best coaches the NFL has ever had, he has won a Super Bowl and amassed 136 victories, which is good for 17th place in NFL history. There has been a lot of speculation that 2023 would be Carroll’s last season as a head coach, and he addressed these retirement rumors, shocking the NFL world.

Despite all of the speculation that he would retire, Carroll has revealed that he will be returning as the Seahawks head coach yet again in 2024, saying “I’m not worn out. I’m not tired.” Carroll has kept the energy alive in Seattle despite losing a good amount of key pieces from previously successful years, like quarterback Russell Wilson, and players like corner Richard Sherman and running back Marshawn Lynch. Even with these players either retired or on new teams, the head coach has kept Seattle more successful than people expected.

While the Seahawks were not able to make the playoffs in 2023, there’s a lot of promise surrounding the team for 2024. Quarterback Geno Smith was injured the last few weeks this season, which significantly impacted their chances of clinching a playoff berth. If Smith can stay healthy for the entire season in 2024, the team should have a great chance to play in the postseason next year.

Carroll has been the most successful head coach in franchise history, however, Seahawks fans think that his time is coming to an end, which led to speculation that he would retire after this season. Fans reacted to the announcement with mixed feelings, with some saying that they are happy he is coming back for another year, while some saying that he will not have the same success he has had over the years.
