After Alabama’s 74-47 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday, head coach Nate Oats singled out a player for attention. Myles Stute was criticized by Oats for remarks he made prior to the first tip.

Stute joined the Gamecocks in the off-season after transferring from Vanderbilt. He had scored 10.2 points a night on average in 15 games, which had helped his side surprise everyone by winning 13 straight.

The solitary setback for the Gamecocks came against their bitter rival Clemson, who is presently ranked in the top 20. That game was well into the second half for South Carolina before the Tigers put together a comeback.

Except for that rivalry game, though, the win-loss record had been perfect.

Even though the non-conference schedule hasn’t been very difficult, it surprised me that Lamont Paris’s team was tied for the best record going into SEC play.

After an 11-21 season in 2022, the media predicted the Gamecocks to finish last in the conference going into the 2023 season.

They defeated Mississippi State in the SEC opener after defeating Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and East Carolina. The triumph on the court infuriated Myles Stute.

Stute responded, “I hope [the SEC is] ready for us,” when questioned about joining the conference. That’s how I respond. Hopefully, they’re prepared for us.

It was Alabama.

Following Alabama’s victory, Nate Oats singles out Myles Stute.
Alabama put the brakes on the Gamecocks in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday night, putting an abrupt end to South Carolina’s winning streak. The Tide led South Carolina 30-29 at the half, but in the last 20 minutes, they would outscore them 44–18.

Nate Oats was thinking about Stute’s remarks after the game.

The head coach stated, “I believe Myles Stute said the SEC wasn’t prepared for South Carolina.” “We made sure to perform for our teammates.” We argued that, rather than South Carolina, we have been the team winning the SEC in this area lately.

Stute had a difficult game, going 0–3 without scoring. In his 29 minutes of play, he grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists.

The defeat dropped the Gamecocks to 1-1 in the SEC and 13-2 overall. Alabama, on the other hand, improved to 10-5 and had a perfect 2-0 conference start.

On Wednesday, January 10, Pat McAfee revealed on his program that Aaron Rodgers would not be returning for the rest of the NFL season.

McAfee’s declaration coincides with Rodgers’s recent conspiracy-theory-filled tirade on Tuesday regarding Anthony Fauci, vaccinations, his own scientific studies, Jimmy Kimmel, being canceled/silenced, and other topics that he usually brings up.
