According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks have started exchanging trade proposals for former All-Star guard Dejounte Murray. Will a larger framework be able to close the deal?

If the Hawks are determined to acquire Austin Reaves back in the possible Murray trade, that is the suggestion made by an NBA executive to ESPN’s Zach Lowe.”Yesterday, January 11, I had a spitball conversation with a [NBA] executive from a different team. If Reaves is involved, might the Lakers create a bigger deal where they get Dejounte?

Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovich, the much-needed sharpshooter? Rui Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell, additional draft compensation, and Jalen Hood-Schifino have to be a part of it, Lowe stated on “NBA Today” on January 12.But it’s easier said than done to pull off a deal this complicated.

“It simply gets really complex, especially because Bobby Marks informed me that the Lakers are already over the tax and getting close to the hard constraint. These trades are increasingly difficult to put together the more players you add, but with a player like Dejounte Murray, I believe the Hawks will legitimately argue that they need Austin Reaves and the Lakers will argue that that doesn’t look like a great fit for them. It’s a really difficult place.

Wojnarowski said the Hawks would want to recoup close to what they gave up — 3 first-round picks, 1 pick swap —  for Murray two summers ago. But the Lakers are only limited to one draft capital (2029 or 2030 1st round pick) to offer in any in-season trade.

Reaves, the player Hawks covet from the Lakers roster, holds the key to a potential Murray trade. How far are the Lakers willing to go to supplement their LeBron James-Anthony Davis star
