Another Auburn position coach has stepped down.

 

On Friday morning, Auburn safeties and secondary coach Zac Etheridge announced his departure from the Tigers’ program. Etheridge made the announcement on social media.

“I want to thank the entire Auburn family for the last three years,” Etheridge said in a statement. “Coaching at my alma mater has been a dream, but I’m excited and ready to move on to the next chapter in my career. I adore Auburn and am confident that under coach (Hugh) Freeze’s leadership, the program will thrive. Above all, I’d like to thank my players. It has been an honor and a blessing to develop Auburh men both on and off the field while fostering lifelong relationships.

Etheridge, a former Auburn player, played safety for the Tigers from 2007 to 2010 and won a national championship as a starter in 2010-11.

“Auburn football would like to thank Zac for his contributions to the program the last three years,” he said. “He contributed significantly to laying the groundwork for the future. Zac is a relentless recruiter and hard worker with a promising future in this industry. I’m excited to see how his career develops and wish him all the best.”

Auburn was tied for third in the SEC with 12 interceptions during the 2023-24 season and ranked 31st in the country in passing yards allowed per game (202.2).

Auburn’s secondary has three players who have accepted.
