The Los Angeles Lakers have unveiled a new starting lineup, indicating a strategic shift in their approach to the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The new lineup consists of D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Taurean Prince, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. This change marks a departure from previous plans that included power forward Rui Hachimura and small forward Cam Reddish.

Revisiting the Initial Lineup
The new lineup isn’t entirely new; it’s a return to the starting five that began the season for the Lakers. The team’s return to its original lineup was tested against the Oklahoma City Thunder, whom they defeated 112-105. The starting guards, Russell and Reaves, combined for 29 points and 13 assists, resulting in 30 assists and 21 fast-break points for the team. Surprisingly, the Lakers, who are not known for their defense, limited the Thunder to 41.7% shooting from the field and 30.6% from three points.
