On Saturday, January 13, defensive back Antonio Kite made an announcement about his commitment to Auburn after logging onto the transfer site following the retirement of former Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

In the recent history of the team, Kite is only the second player to transfer from Alabama to Auburn. Corey Grant was the only other one in 2011.

During the 2023 season, the 6-foot-1 redshirt freshman appeared in seven games, primarily as a special teams player. During his redshirt season in 2022, Kite only saw the field twice.

The product of Anniston High School, Kite was rated as a consensus four-star prospect by 247Composite, placing him 164th nationally and ninth overall in Alabama.

The NFL Draft claimed the careers of Tigers safeties Jaylin Simpson and Zion Puckett, as well as cornerbacks D.J. James and Nehemiah Pritchett. Texas safety Jerrin Thompson was added on Monday, and Kite will now have to step in for Charles Kelly, the new co-defensive coordinator and a major player in Kite’s recruiting to Alabama.

Kite will look to have his collegiate break through at Auburn alongside a young but talented defensive unit.
