It’s been an interesting couple of years for Geno Smith.

He was first considered a bust after failing to keep his starting spot on the New York Jets. He then took his time and became the talisman for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. After securing a big three-year contract with Seattle in the offseason, he finished the following season with one that left fans scratching their heads

While he missed time due to injury, it’s clear that something isn’t clicking the same way it did last year. The future–which seemed certain for Geno at first–is once again uncertain.

“Smith is coming off a mixed-bag of a season. He was historically clutch in the fourth quarter and posted the NFL’s best QBR over the final six weeks, a span that includes the two games he missed with a groin injury. But even with that strong finish, his production dipped across the board from 2022, including 10 fewer touchdown passes (though also two fewer interceptions) and a completion rate that fell from 69.8% to 64.7%. Just as significantly, he no longer has Carroll — perhaps his biggest supporter in the organization — calling the shots.”

Geno Smith is coming off a rough season that only saw him 3624 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 9 thrown interceptions, and a 92.1 QB rating. All of these numbers were a downgrade from his 2022 numbers.
