reported in the early morning that Leeds were in advanced talks with Sint-Truiden over Hashioka, who was reportedly on his way to Elland Road.

Leeds head coach Daniel Farke is looking to bring in a new right-back before the January transfer window shuts.

However, there has been a sudden twist in Leeds United’s pursuit of Daiki Hashioka.

The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has reported on X that Luton Town are in talks over signing the Japan international right-back for €2 million (£1.71 million)

It seems that Leeds could miss out on the signing of Hashioka, who has scored two goals and given two assists in 17 starts and one substitute appearance in the Jupiler Pro League this season.

Luton are playing in the Premier League this season and are in danger of getting relegated.

Rob Edwards’s side are third from bottom in the league table with 16 points from 20 matches.

As for Leeds, there is a very good chance that the West Yorkshire club could end up winning promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites are only two points behind second-placed Ipswich Town, although I must note that Leeds have played a game more.
