Godfrey is obviously a top, top defender that has proven he is of Premier League standard. A player with England caps, gaining interest from some of Serie A’s best sides. A deal was always going to be tough.
But given he played for Everton last night, and that Dyche had a conversation with him – it looks right now, as though Godfrey will be staying. Plenty of twists and turns are expected before the deadline.
Leeds have options in defence, but there is clearly room for a signing or two. Archie Gray and Jamie Shackleton are solid at right-back, but they’re naturally midfielders. A new addition is required.
