Voetbal International reports that Rangers have made contact with FC Twente regarding a potential Gijs Smal deal. The left-back, 26, is approaching the last year of his current contract and doesn’t appear to be interested in signing a new one.
Gijs Smal joined Twente from FC Volendam in 2020, and since then, he has been an important member of the team. The Dutch defender made 44 appearances in all competitions last season, dishing off eleven assists. Smal is eager to get up high on the pitch and contribute on the other end. He has shown himself to be a reliable defender for the Eredivisie team. The full-back has made 13 appearances so far this season, with Twente in third position.

Gijs Smal is valued at €6 million by Transfermarkt, and if the defender is eager to go, Twente might make a big profit this month. Given his youth and continued potential, Rangers would be a good fit for the defender. He is only 26 years old. At Rangers, Smal would team up with Belgian manager Philippe Clement.
