A rival AFC South team is appointing a former Jacksonville Jaguars coach as its offensive coordinator for the second year in a row. The Jaguars will now lose passing game coordinator Nick Holz to the Tennessee Titans, where he will rejoin with Brian Callahan, one year after Jim Bob Cooter was snatched by the Colts.

Working along with offensive coordinator Press Taylor, Holz oversaw the passing game for the Jaguars in 2023. Holz joined the Jaguars for the first time that season, taking over for Jim Bob Cooter as the passing game coordinator. The Jaguars’ passing offense was expected to do well in 2023, but it fell short of most predictions. Under Taylor, Cooter, and head coach Doug Pederson, quarterback Trevor Lawrence of the Jaguars had a lower net yards per pass attempt, threw fewer touchdowns, threw more interceptions, and took more sacks.

As of this now, only Holz, running backs coach Bernie Parmalee, and assistant offensive line coach Todd Washington are expected to miss out on the 2023 season with the Jaguars. While Parmalee was fired, Washington’s contract expired. “I’m not a mentor. Doug Pederson, the head coach, should answer those questions. When asked about the offensive problems in 2023, Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke responded this week, saying, “I think if I look at it from a big picture, create an identity.” “Who are we? I don’t think we quite reached that level this year, but I thought we did it in terms of special teams, defense, and offense toward the end of the previous campaign. First and foremost, you must have an identity. Who are you?
