In their print edition [5 February, page 65], the newspaper stated that venues all throughout Merseyside demonstrated their contempt for the tournament by declining to host, even though Liverpool was selected as the next stop.This is the most recent development in the seemingly never-ending drama between the Premier League and Everton, but venues all across Liverpool are uniting in their support of the Premier League, so it’s no longer just Toffees fans venting their annoyance.More demonstrations were staged at Goodison Park before the match against Tottenham.                                                                                                                                                                                                      The Premier League anthem was booed before kickoff and yellow cards were held up before and during the tenth minute of play.Everton’s ten-point deduction has been the subject of an appeals process; the Toffees are scheduled to hear back from their appeals lawyer in mid-February. On Saturday, the player was observed at Goodison.The club acknowledged that they had violated the rules, but they believed that the penalty was too severe. They cited the fact that a severe sporting discipline had been imposed for a non-sporting event, and they will be requesting a reduction in the deduction.
