In 2024, the Detroit Lions will not visit Brazil.

The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the schedule for the 2024 Brazil game on Friday night of opening weekend. Goodell also touched on other league issues during his annual media session held prior to the Super Bowl.

Given that the two clubs do not play each other in the next season, the Philadelphia Eagles have been declared the home team, making the Lions the obvious opponent.

“This landmark first international game in South America demonstrates the ongoing expansion of our global footprint,” stated Roger Goodell. “Holding a performance on the first Friday night of the first week is a special method to showcase our global expansion and goals.

Dan Campbell’s team will play a first-place schedule in 2024 following their first division triumph since the 1993 campaign and their first-ever NFC North victory.

The NFC East, NFC South, and AFC East top teams will face the Lions in the regular season of the following year.

At Ford Field, Detroit will host Green Bay, Minnesota, and Chicago.

The Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Seattle will also be making visits to Motown.

On the road, Detroit will take on Dallas, Chicago, Minnesota, Green Bay, Arizona, Indianapolis, Houston, and San Francisco.

As part of the yearly rotation, Detroit will play every team in the NFC West and the AFC South this season.

Detroit’s last international game was against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015.

According to a statement from the league, “With the game in South America, the NFL will have played a game (preseason or regular season) in five of the seven continents around the world.”
