The Oklahoma Sooners are preparing for their 2024 SEC transition. But this summer, the transfer portal has not been kind to them. Although they have added several quality players, the program lost Dillon Gabriel and several important offensive line players. Geirean Hatchett, a former lineman for the Washington Huskies, made a significant commitment to the Sooners today.

Hatchett will be eligible for another two years. He was a member of the offensive line that took home the Joe Moore Award, which honors the best offensive line in the country. In an interview with On3, Hatchett discussed the relocation to Norman.

“Oklahoma was one of my top schools when I graduated from high school, so I already felt very at home there. For me, the greatest experience was playing for an offensive line coach like Bedenbaugh. From his time at OU, he has been able to develop guys so effectively. I am therefore quite excited to play for him.

The Sooners’ 2024 schedule is an absolute challenge, as it is for most SEC teams. During the regular season, they must play LSU, Tennessee, Auburn, Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Missouri. In the final AP Top 25, three of those clubs placed among the top ten. It will be difficult to win all of your games, much less escape with just one defeat. Every week, the newly redesigned SEC will feature a top-tier battle, but the actual victors will be the supporters.
