Recently, Boston sports teams have featured in a number of sports documentaries; examples include the Red Sox’s Netflix documentary on their upcoming season and the Patriots’ “The Dynasty.” Well, include the Celtics in the mix for a future documentary.

On WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Friday, Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck disclosed that the team will soon release their own movie.

Since everything is brand-new, it’s unknown how much will be featured in the documentary at this time. However, given Grousbeck’s remarks, if it’s anything like ESPN “The Last Dance,” which followed Michael Jordan’s final title during the 1997–98 campaign, then it ought to be a massive undertaking. It will be fascinating to see how many episodes the Celtics receive for their film, though, given that series consisted of ten parts.

Grousbeck also pointed out that the Celtics would have a ton of historical stuff to draw from if they sift through the archives. There is enough material for a documentary to cover because this is one of the most interesting NBA franchises in history. However, given that Grousbeck stated they are also monitoring the current Celtics, it seems they will be combining the past with the present.

In any case, the project ought to be enjoyable, particularly if the Cs manage to win everything while filming is going on. As they approach Banner No. 18, the Celtics are presently 43-12, the best record in the NBA, going into the All-Star break.

Though the prospect of a documentary in the near future, they still have a lot more basketball ahead of them.
