On March 13, the day teams can start negotiations with unrestricted free agents, the NFL’s 2024 season officially gets underway. Since Smith is the lone quarterback on the Seahawks roster right now, it is anticipated that general manager John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald will select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft or through free agency.

After longtime starter Russell Wilson was sold to the Denver Broncos, Smith, 33, had a great year in 2022.

In his debut season as a full-time player for the Seahawks, Smith completed 69.8% of his throws for a career-high 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns. Smith was chosen as the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year and guided the Seahawks to an unexpected postseason appearance.
