The Super Eagles forward saved the Scudetto winners, pulling a draw out of the jaws of defeat. Ronald Federico Araujo, a defender for Barcelona, has expressed his resentment over Victor Osimhen’s equalization for Napoli during their UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday.

Osimhen, who helped Nigeria win the silver medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, began his debut for Napoli against the Catalans.

Despite this, Barcelona controlled the match against a Napoli team that was having trouble—they had only won one of their previous five games in all competitions.

Robert Lewandowski’s excellent goal in the 60th minute gave the Spanish champions the lead.

At the Diego Maradona Stadium, they appeared to be on their way to their second straight victory over Napoli. When the two teams met in the Europa League in 2022, Barcelona prevailed 2-4 at the same location.

But Osimhen was up to the challenge, turning his defender and beating goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen with a first-time effort.

Araujo, a great from Uruguay, is still upset that Osimhen’s goal denied Barcelona a well-deserved win.

According to Tutto Napoli, the 24-year-old Araujo stated, “We were doing an excellent defensive job, but Osimhen took advantage of the only opportunity he had.”

“We apologize for the goal we gave up, but we showed that we are a very good squad. Perhaps we simply couldn’t hold onto the ball at key points during the encounter.

“We truly believed in victory, so we leave with a bitter feeling.”
