Former Denver Broncos star Mark Schlereth has characterized the departure of Jerry Jeudy from the team as a positive development. Jeudy, a former first-round pick, was traded to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for two late-round picks in the 2024 draft. Schlereth, who now works as a broadcaster for NFL on Fox, has been critical of Jeudy’s performance for the past two years.

On his platform, Schlereth reiterated his stance, emphasizing Jeudy’s shortcomings as a wide receiver. Despite Jeudy’s reputation for quickness and route-running ability, Schlereth contends that he often becomes open after the quarterback has completed his progression. Schlereth criticized Jeudy’s overall football skills, citing deficiencies in running secondary routes to attract coverage, frequent dropped passes, and inadequate blocking. He expressed relief at Jeudy’s departure, believing that such a player is not conducive to Denver’s rebuilding efforts. However, Schlereth acknowledged Jeudy’s time with the team and wished him well.

Schlereth’s criticism echoes sentiments expressed by other analysts, including NFL Network’s Steve Smith, who labeled Jeudy as a third-tier wide receiver. Despite spending four lackluster seasons in Denver, there is optimism that a change of scenery in Cleveland might rejuvenate Jeudy’s career.
