Denver Broncos Secure Brandon Jones in Multi-Year Deal as NFL Legal Tampering Period Begins

As the 2024 NFL legal tampering period kicks off, the Miami Dolphins find themselves making waves in the offseason shuffle, with notable player movements capturing attention across the league.

The first bombshell dropped shortly after the commencement of the legal tampering period, as Bleacher Report’s NFL Insider Jordan Schultz unveiled that the Denver Broncos had clinched a three-year agreement with former Miami Dolphins safety Brandon Jones.

According to Schultz’s report, Jones’ fresh contract is valued at up to $22.5 million, with a substantial $12.5 million guarantee at signing, a significant move for both player and team.

Brandon Jones, 25, initially entered the NFL scene as the Dolphins’ third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Over his four-season tenure in Miami, Jones made his mark, boasting 30 starts and 54 appearances. His stat sheet paints a picture of his impactful presence on the field, tallying 238 tackles (151 solo), eight sacks, 14 quarterback hits, three interceptions, four forced fumbles, and nine pass breakups during his time with the Dolphins.

With this transition, Jones ventures westward to fortify a Denver Broncos defense that grappled with challenges during the 2023 season under new head coach Sean Payton, conceding an average of 370.8 yards per game.

The news of Jones’ departure from Miami may come as a surprise to some, particularly after safety Jevon Holland’s recent cryptic tweet hinting at a potential reunion between the two players in Miami. However, with Jones bound for Denver on the inaugural day of free agency, the Dolphins are left to navigate the waters of a competitive free agency pool, albeit with no shortage of safety talent.

As Brandon Jones embarks on this new chapter with the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins bid him farewell, acknowledging his growth and contributions during his tenure—a testament to the fluidity and unpredictability of the NFL offseason landscape. Best wishes extend from Miami to Jones as he embraces his new role in the Mile High City.
