Miami Dolphins player Jaylen Waddle expressed deep emotion on social media in response to the news of his former teammate’s trade. Cedrick Wilson Jr., who had been with the team for two seasons, recently departed to join the New Orleans Saints. Despite their relatively short time together, Waddle and Wilson had formed a strong bond, evident in Waddle’s heartfelt message wishing his departing teammate well.

Wilson’s journey with the Dolphins began in 2022 when he signed a three-year contract worth $21 million, with hopes of partnering directly with Waddle on the field. However, the acquisition of Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs shortly after Wilson’s signing complicated his role on the team. Despite the challenges, Wilson managed to contribute significantly, amassing 432 yards, 34 catches, and three touchdowns during the regular season, with additional postseason receptions. Although he only started in three games, Wilson appeared in a total of 32, showcasing his versatility in special teams as well, where he returned 17 punts.

Unfortunately, Wilson’s tenure with the Dolphins faced uncertainty as his contract was voided, making him ineligible for compensatory free agency. Alongside Wilson, a group of five wide receivers, including River Cracraft, Robbie Chosen, Chase Claypool, and Braxton Berrios, also became free agents. This flurry of player movement underscores the dynamic nature of professional football, leaving fans and players alike contemplating the team’s prospects for the upcoming season amidst the roster changes.
