Originally published on A to Z Sports by Nick Roesch, the latest update on 3/16/24 reveals that shortly after the departure of linebacker Jordyn Brooks to the Miami Dolphins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that the Seattle Seahawks have inked former Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker to a one-year contract worth $7 million.

The Seahawks found themselves in dire need of a linebacker following the exits of Brooks, Devin Bush, and All-Pro Bobby Wagner. Baker, a third-round pick for Miami in 2018, brings with him 82 career starts. Known for his speed, athleticism, and solid coverage abilities, Baker is adept at swiftly attacking the run.

Joining a Seattle defense that ranked 31st in the NFL against the run and 30th overall last season, Baker’s addition is expected to bolster their defensive capabilities. Throughout his career, he has achieved three seasons with over 100 total tackles and has garnered 22.5 sacks.

Although Baker faced some injury setbacks last season, missing four games due to a knee injury and sitting out the Dolphins’ wild-card postseason game with a wrist issue, a healthy and productive 2024 campaign with Seattle could potentially lead to a lucrative long-term contract for him.
