Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney revealed on Sunday that the team has inked forward Riley Duran to a two-year entry-level deal set to kick in for the 2024-25 season. The contract, as per CapFriendly, carries a cap hit of $867,500.

Duran is slated to join the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, on an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

Hailing from Woburn, Massachusetts, Duran spent the 2023-24 season playing NCAA hockey with the Providence College Friars, where he amassed 16 points from nine goals and seven assists across 35 games. This marked his third season with the Friars, having notched a total of 55 points (27 goals, 28 assists) in 102 NCAA games.

Drafted by the Bruins at No. 182 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Duran showcased his talent during his tenure with Lawrence Academy, leading the team with 22 goals and 44 points in 27 games. Following that season, the 6-foot-2, 181-pound forward opted for a gap year, suiting up for the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL, where he recorded 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 47 games along with 32 penalty minutes.

Although Duran was selected by the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL American Draft in 2018, he chose the collegiate route. During the 2021-22 season, Duran represented the United States at the IIHF World Juniors, contributing five points (two goals, three assists) in five games.

Currently, Providence ranks second in the Atlantic Division with a 36-18-4-3 record and 79 points from 61 games, with 11 regular-season games left to play.
