Uchenna Nwosu’s journey back to the field for the Seattle Seahawks is progressing positively.

Speaking confidently at the podium after the third day of the Seahawks’ offseason program, Nwosu expressed optimism about being fully prepared for training camp in late July.

Though not quite game-ready at present due to his ongoing recovery from a torn pectoral muscle suffered last season, Nwosu has shown significant improvement. He has been able to participate in some of Seattle’s recent workouts while also immersing himself in the team’s new playbook under coach Mike Macdonald’s guidance, focusing on the mental aspect of the game during his rehabilitation.

Nwosu provided insight into his rehabilitation process, crediting John Meyer, a medical expert also associated with the Los Angeles Clippers, for his progress. He anticipates being fully prepared to return to action in a few weeks.

When asked about his readiness for training camp, Nwosu responded with a resounding “Absolutely.”

Despite only recording two sacks in six games prior to his injury, Nwosu’s absence significantly impacted the Seahawks’ defensive performance last season. Following his injury, the team struggled notably, particularly against the run, highlighting Nwosu’s importance to the defensive lineup.

Before his injury, Seattle’s run defense had shown considerable improvement, ranking among the top five in rushing yards allowed and yards per carry through the first six weeks of the season. However, once Nwosu was sidelined, the team’s defensive vulnerabilities became evident, with opponents exploiting gaps in the absence of his presence on the field.

Reflecting on his injury, Nwosu expressed the difficulty of being sidelined after enjoying a relatively injury-free career until then. He endured a challenging recovery process, watching from the sidelines as his team faced defensive struggles without him.
