The Boston Red Sox are preparing for an exciting series against the St. Louis Cardinals starting Friday, May 17. Tyler O’Neill, now with the Red Sox after being traded, is set to face his former team for the first time. In the lead-up to this highly anticipated matchup, O’Neill opened up about the unique experience and emotions tied to playing against the Cardinals. He expressed a blend of respect and competitive spirit as he looks forward to the showdown, aiming to make a significant impact for Boston.

During a guest spot on NESN’s “310 to Left” podcast, Red Sox outfielder Tyler O’Neill shared his thoughts on facing his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals. He expressed well-wishes for the Cardinals but firmly stated his intention to win the series for Boston.

“Hope for nothing but positive results for those guys. But obviously, when we play them, I want to take it to them. I want to go in there and sweep them at home. That would be really sweet for me,” O’Neill said.

O’Neill has been a reliable player for the Red Sox this season, boasting a .256 batting average, 10 home runs, and 16 RBIs. His consistent performance makes him a key player to watch in the upcoming series. The series kicks off on Friday, May 17, at 8:15 P.M. Eastern, and a win could push Boston above the .500 mark for the season.

Currently, the Red Sox hold a 22-22 record, placing them fourth in the American League East. Despite numerous injuries, the team remains competitive. With players like Triston Casas expected to return in June, Boston aims to stay in the playoff hunt as the season progresses.
