Ange Postecoglou said he may switch Heung-Min Son’s position after the Asian Cup.

After Heung-Min Son returns from the Asian Cup, Ange Postecoglou says he may switch the 26-year-old Tottenham star’s position.

Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has stated that he may move Richarlison’s position if Son Heung-min leaves for the Asian Cup.

Spurs are now limited on choices due to injury, and the situation will worsen next month when Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and, most crucially, Son depart to represent their country. Richarlison will have to step up at that point.

Richarlison’s status could alter next month, according to Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham began the season with Richarlison up front and Son Heung-min on the left flank under Ange Postecoglou.

After a few games, the two attackers switched places, and Son began firing for Tottenham while playing down the middle. Postecoglou dubbed him the club’s best finisher.

Everyone anticipated the South Korean to play in the center, but since Richarlison’s comeback from injury earlier this month, Postecoglou has used him as a striker again, with Son shifting to the left.

The Asian Cup will begin in January, and Son will be representing his country. Postecoglou will have to make a decision with his pick, and he has already hinted at it.

The Spurs manager has hinted that he may switch Richarlison’s position again, this time to the left, to take over Son’s duty next month.

“We played him (Richarlison) out wide, on the left, because he was struggling with certain things at the start of the year in terms of his body and it just made sense for us to play him in those wide areas and we had Sonny who could play in the middle and he was going well at the time,” Postecoglou said, according to Football London.

“Richy through the middle and Sonny out on the left work well for us right now, but with Sonny out, there’s always the possibility of playing Richy out there as well.”

“I mean, he played the majority of his Everton Premier League career there and scored a lot of goals.” As a result, there is always that potential.

“Again I like players who are multi-functional in that way and if you look at our front players – whether that’s Sonny, Kulusevski, Johnson, Richy – they’ve all played just about every position there and at the moment us having Richy at nine is working well for us and we’ll continue with that but there’s always a possibility that it could change.”

It’s an easy decision to switch Richarlison and Son Heung-min’s positions because they’re both excellent players, especially the latter.

When Son is gone on international duty, Ange Postecoglou should keep Richarlison in the starting lineup because they don’t have anyone else.

Young Alejo Veliz is still not ready to lead Tottenham’s attack, while Dane Scarlett, who has returned from loan, is below the Argentinian in the pecking order.

Richarlison will be Tottenham’s top striker while Son is gone, thus he must keep his spot unless Spurs acquire a new number nine in January.
